Wild Rose Care Home provides memory, dementia, and Alzheimer’s care, but many other Santa Rosa assisted living facilities do not. At Wild Rose Care Home our owner who herself is a nurse and who has over a decade of elder care experience does accommodate residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. At our assisted living facility personal care accounts for individual dementia behaviors with the goal of decreasing negative behaviors and enhancing resident well-being. While Wild Rose Care Home does not have a “specialized dementia program,” the assisted living facility does accept seniors with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and memory loss, and tailors personal care to the unique condition of every resident.
Unlike Wild Rose Care Home, many smaller assisted living facilities in Santa Rosa, CA do not provide memory care. Most small assisted living facilities operated by non-medical personnel do not have the experience or background to care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Consequently, many small assisted living facilities in Santa Rosa do not accept “difficult” residents. Likewise, larger Santa Rosa assisted living facilities have been known to evict “difficult,” “combative,” or “sedentary” seniors before addressing the underlying dementia symptom correlated to the condition. At Wild Rose Care Home, we know that resident conditions correlated with dementia can be mitigated and improved by understanding dementia care and incorporating corrective policy into an individual care plan. Accordingly, our assisted living facility has had great success in caring for “difficult” residents.
